Overview: We are looking for an Energy Modeler to support sustainability and building performance projects by developing detailed energy models for buildings. You will collaborate with design teams to predict energy use, optimize building systems, and contribute to the overall energy efficiency of projects. Key Responsibilities: Energy Modeling: Develop whole-building energy models using industry-standard tools to simulate energy consumption, HVAC systems, lighting, and renewable energy integration. Building Performance Analysis: Conduct detailed energy simulations to assess energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and overall building performance for new and existing buildings. Design Support: Work closely with architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants to evaluate and improve building designs through energy modeling and performance optimization. Green Certifications: Support certification processes such as LEED, WELL, or other sustainability rating systems by providing necessary energy data and analysis. Optimization Recommendations: Analyze modeling results to recommend design strategies that reduce energy consumption, improve thermal comfort, and integrate passive/active energy-saving systems. Energy Code Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and national energy codes and standards, including ASHRAE, IECC, and Title 24. Post-Occupancy Evaluation: Verify building energy performance through post-occupancy evaluations and calibrate models as necessary to align with actual energy usage. Qualifications: Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field 4+ years experience in building energy modeling Proficiency in energy modeling software, preferably IES VE (e.g., EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, Sefaira) Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (LEED, ASHRAE, IECC, WELL) Strong understanding of building codes in NY, HVAC systems, and energy-efficient design strategies Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
