Trinity Health Grand Rapids is looking for a Neurosurgeon to fill their Locum need! Schedule: Dates of Coverage: Jan 8, 2025- May 31, 2025 Reason for Coverage: Lost physicians providing call coverage Schedule: 24/7 On Call for 7 days in a row (1 week assignment at a time). We need 2 weeks of locum coverage per month. Call Schedule: 24/7 for 1 week Call Ratio: 24/7 x 7 days straight Details: Practice Setting: May have some patient seen in Neurosurgery clinic as follow-ups form surgery or pre-op. However, this locum will function like a Neurosurgery Hospitalist who will cover 24/7 call for hospital and ED. Inpatient rounding will be expected. We have a Comprehensive stroke (with a stroke service that manages all strokes) and level 2 trauma center. Average Number of Surgical Cases Per Day: 1-3 per week emergently Trauma Level II Annual ER Volume: 48, 000 Documentation System/EMR: EPIC Number of Operating rooms: 19 Number of Neurosurgeons in Practice: 2 employed Description of OR Staff: Highly skilled, Neurosurgery Supervisors, Surgical First Asst. Patient Age Demographic: No Peds or Adolescent. Only Adults. Procedures Required: Neurosurgery Cases ADULT Neurosurgery Cases TRAUMA Tumor Removal Brain Bleed Stoppage Trauma Repair Stereotactic Radiosurgery EVD, brain swelling, if vascular skills great Shunt Insertion or Revision Endovascular Procedures Required: Ideal to have some but can work around it Peripheral Nerve Surgery Procedures Required: Carpal Tunner Release (but not necessary) Spine Surgery Procedures Required: Diskectomy Laminectomy Spine Stabilization and Reconstruction Spinal Fusion Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty Trauma of spine essential Others only if urgently needed. Neurosurgical Critical Care Procedures Required: Placement of Lumbar Drains We have critical care medicine to do above procedures CSF Sampling from Shunts or External Ventricular Drains Management and Interpretation of ICP and CPP Data External Ventricular Drain Management We have critical care medicine to do above Additional Procedures: Stabilization of head and spine trauma Brain evacuation with brain swelling/fluid Craniotomies as needed. Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 Days Facility Reimbursement: Rental Car Hotel Flight If travel is approved, do you have any preferences or additional caps not outlined in the travel policy? Hotel not more than ***/night (receipt needed). If you rent a car while in town, no UBER or Lyft will be covered. To and From home airport is covered by UBER and Lyft with receipts. *Please Note: Trinity Health does not reimburse for any application or credentialing fees.
