Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Department: Facilities Starting Rate: $16.99 per hour Reports to: Facilities Shift Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Closing Date: Open Until Filled SUMMARY : Basic knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings and applies application in specified field (e.g. air, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, etc) As a member of the Facilities Team will be required to assist in repairing mechanical equipment, complete assigned projects, perform routine preventative maintenance and repair of company property. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with the public and fellow associates Possess a New York State Driver's license or a driver's license from another area with a Driver's Abstract Certifications: Scissors Lift, Genie Lift, Single Man Genie Lift, Fork Lift, etc. (Casino will Certify) Basic Knowledge of blueprint reading, diagrams, instructions and schematics. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Basic knowledge of computer office programs, department specific programs, computer-controlled equipment/systems or willingness to learn the above. Basic knowledge of building trade skills: such as General Construction, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, Locksmith, and related skills: Fleet Work, Gaming Equipment, Grounds Keeping, Engrave. Basic general knowledge of HVAC/Refrigeration. As part of the Facilities team will protect and secure company assets: Property, Guest and Associate Safety, Fire Panel, Sprinkler system, Generator/ATS, UPS, Cooling Tower, Rotor Tooter, Emergency Response, Water Softener, Kitchen Equipment, Refrigeration, Handicap Doors, Chemical Handling, HVAC Control System, etc. As part of the facilities team will assist in building, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining casino properties. Operates snow removal equipment: plow truck, sand/salt spreader, snow blower, shovels etc. Operates lawn maintenance equipment: riding and walk behind mowers, hedge clippers, weed trimmers, tractor/loader, etc. Keeps properties clean, neat, and organized - occasionally assists housekeeping staff with critical facilities cleaning tasks Assists in setup/tear down of equipment during special events. Assist in supplies, material, and inventory moves. Assists guest and associates with vehicle emergencies: lockouts, boosting batteries, changing tires, etc. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor The Maintenance Engineer Level I will be required to participate in training and furthering their education. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : High School diploma or GED with 2 years work experience or six months to one year related experience and/or training: ;or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to quests, clients, and other associates of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must obtain and maintain a New York State certification and St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Class III License which requires a criminal background check to be used solely for employment purposes. Successful candidates for employment must submit to and pass a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. In case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino or Mohawk Bingo Palace. Employment will not begin until process is complete. The position exists in a casino work environment where there is occasional exposure of the associate to noise and cigarette smoke from the casino floor. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
