Our goal is to apply these technologies on the millions of smart end points and associated data that Xylem impacts daily. We seek to measure every possible signal and data element from our worldwide endpoints. This role will be located in our Boise, Idaho R&D Office and will lead the Software development work for both Sensus Distribution Automation and a variety of business units within Xylem that will utilize newly developed end point solutions. Sensus Distribution Automation (DA) Engineering is a team of hardware, firmware, and software engineers that is growing and extending Sensus' reach into Smart Grid solutions. Our product allows our customers to monitor and control their electrical, water, and gas Smart Grid distribution systems by connecting devices from the field to customer backend SCADA systems as a complete solution. The Role: Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a Software Manager to work with the Sensus Distribution Automation team and a variety of business units with Xylem to create value-added software applications using our existing software platforms. You should be a self-directed leader interested in building teams. You should demonstrate proficiency in planning and organization, and exercise strong judgment. You should be flexible and have a positive attitude. You should know enough about building software to understand that the work doesn't end with delivering code. This position reports to the Director of Engineering for Distribution Automation located in Boise, Idaho. Essential Functions: Lead and grow a high-performing agile software team that values learning and high-quality on-time delivery Break down barriers and issues that impact the team's productivity Team mentor, coach, developer, team builder Work with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, etc) company-wide to ensure alignment and synergy Know the customer and the technology so you can drive forward the product vision. Create and manage project schedules, estimates, budget, forecasts, and purchases Minimum Qualifications: BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent 5+ years of experience in a software development related field 3+ years as a software manager who grows and empowers team 3+ years with SDLC, Agile, and Scrum Strong communication (written and verbal) and facilitation skills Ability to change priorities quickly and lead others through those changes Ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams towards task completion Ability to identify and mitigate risks Experience working in a geographically distributed environment Preferred: 3+ years of project management and/or PMP Certification Scrum Master certification Knowledge and experience applying Clifton Strengthsfinder to coaching and engaging teams Sense of humor Physical Demands: (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
