Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Director, Lab Administrative Operations. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the day-to-day administrative operations that support the Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories. In collaboration with Senior Laboratory leadership, formulates and establishes operational administrative goals and objectives for the department. Works effectively with interdisciplinary hospital administrative departments to ensure the provision of high quality and cost-effective administrative operations. Directly supervises non-technical administrative support positions. Job Responsibilities: Directly supervises management and supervisory staff including but not limited to expected outcomes and goals, assigning responsibilities, establishing work hours and staffing schedules, monitoring staffing and payroll. Development, Evaluation, Counseling and Personnel related activities: Direct supervision of management, supervisory, and line staff. Interviews perspective employees, evaluates and documents staff performance and performs personnel counseling. Recognizes and identifies staff needs and develops programs to meet needs. Oversees orientation and training of new staff. Establishes ongoing training and competency training for all staff. Planning, Procedure and Business improvement: Develops, implements and maintains systems for ensuring effective administrative operations. Ensures all administrative procedures and policies are developed, maintained and enforced. Contract management as it relates to administrative services. Directly manages all administrative support related to Courier services, GRM Records, and Microscopes. Works with Corporate sourcing team to manage vendor work product outcomes and impact to operations. Facilities: Manages facility support including coordination and notification of impacts for all labs as it relates to facility moves or planned outages. Clerical and office management support including secretarial supervision, website maintenance, customer support, phone trees, roster management for all labs, and pathologist support related to clinical support. Manages and establishes standardization of send-out testing operations for all laboratory locations. Directly manages main campus Lab coordinating council and partners with system wide coordinating councils. Manages NYU Pathology website content maintenance as it relates to laboratory services. Participates in project management & business analytics for the department as needed. Planning and Budgeting: Participates in cost control and fiscal planning to ensure that the most effective method of delivering quality administrative services is implemented. Participation in standardization of administrative operations within the NYUL Hospitals Center network as it relates to administrative operations at Main Campus. In conjunction with Senior Administrative Directors, partners with management at non-Main Campus locations (Brooklyn, PCC, Long Island, LICH) to ensure administrative procedures and processes are standardized and effectively managed as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of 5 years in a laboratory with management responsibilities. Must be knowledgeable in all areas of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Effective oral, written, communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in management, business, public health, laboratory sciences or a related field. 5-7 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting with management responsibilities. NYS Clinical Laboratory Licensure. ASCP Certification. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $178,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
