About Us: Northside Charter High School is a small, public charter school located in the North Williamsburg/ Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. We are a college preparatory high school with a mission to prepare students for college. Our Core Values are: Commitment Accountability Respect Integrity About the Role: Northside Charter High School is seeking an organized, flexible, and mission-driven Associate Director of Special Education (IEP and 504's) to join us in support of our growing School. The ideal candidate is fully dedicated to the mission of NCHS and to supporting the success of our students and families. This person will report directly to the Director of Inclusive Learning and be responsible for socio-emotional and responsive academic programming. Special Services Support the Director of SPED in implementing a thorough, equitable, and compliant special services program. Establish and maintain an IEP case management system. Prepare student IEPs for annual reviews, re-evaluations, initials and develop accountability measures for Teacher Reports. Analyze academic data to contribute to leading a proactive RTI process. Partner with cross-functional teams to meet the specialized needs of students. Provide IEP summaries to teachers and support teaching teams to devise and monitor high-impact support plans for students. Collaborate with the school nurse in managing and overseeing the implementation of 504s to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations to access the same educational opportunities as their peers. Collaborate with the Enrollment Department in updating all systems that reflect students' IEP data (i.e ATS, SESIS). Prepare for, schedule and lead IEP meetings. Student Culture Model strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families and support teachers to do the same. In collaboration with Associate Director of Student Experience and Safety, support Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior interventions and evaluate student data to measure progress. Observe and give feedback on schoolwide systems and classroom culture. Candidate Requirements: Bachelors Degree. Degree in Special Education and Special Education Certification Required. At least 2 years of teaching experience in a diverse by design environment preferred. Experience in teaching and managing supports for students with IEPs and other special needs. Prior experience directly managing, observing, and coaching teachers. Exceptionally strong organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail. Adept at collaborating and building community with others.
