Position Details Position Information Position Title OFFICE ASSISTANT-Part Time (ESL) Reports To Assistant Director of the Extension Centers and ESL Programs Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and organized Office Assistant to join our team at Essex County College. This part-time position focuses on providing exceptional student services and managing routine office tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the ESL program, TEAS Preparation courses, and college-level courses in Spanish offered at the FOCUS Extension Center. Supervisory Role Duties & Responsibilities Manage routine office tasks, including data entry, answering phone, and maintaining a welcoming office environment. Serve the frontline of our office, as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors, offering assistance and information. Provide administrative support to the Assistant Director of the Extension Centers and ESL Programs. Assist in organizing events, workshops, examination, registration and other student-related activities. Assist in coordinating ESL classes, TEAS Preparation, ensuring smooth operation. Prepare and distribute relevant communications, such as announcements and program updates. Collaborate with various departments to enhance student services and support initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift. Additional Requirements This is a part-time position, and flexibility is essential to accommodate the dynamic needs of the community college environment. The successful candidate will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to contribute to the overall success of our ESL and language programs. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities Experience: Previous experience in administrative roles, preferably within a higher education or community college setting. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college coursework or an associate degree is preferred. Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Bilingual Spanish or French (Must speak English). Minimum Education Requirements High School Diploma Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities Education Requirements Associate's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
