Yes Position Purpose The Program Manager for Strategic Initiatives and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) will play a dual role in advancing organizational goals within higher education, research, and clinical settings. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in strategic planning and a commitment to promoting DEIB in academic, research, or clinical settings. The Program Manager will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives while simultaneously leading efforts to foster an inclusive and equitable environment within our institution. This position will focus on planning and delivery of programming efforts as it relates to Strategic Initiatives and DEIB in cancer. Description This position offers a unique opportunity to shape strategic initiatives while driving meaningful DEIB efforts in impactful areas of higher education and rural cancer research. Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or combination of experience and education in Business Administration, Education, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, with a focus on strategic initiatives and DEIB. Experience with a rural populations will be helpful, but is not required. Proven experience in higher education, cancer research, or related fields is preferred. Demonstrated ability to formulate, initiate and execute programs custom- designed to address complex institutional and multi-institutional priorities. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, researchers, and clinicians. Demonstrated ability to effect change. Skills: Strong program management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams. In-depth knowledge of DEIB current principles and best practices. Ability to analyze complex data and present actionable insights. High level of organizational and time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional communication and presentation abilities. Ability to work collaboratively toward innovative solutions in highly stressful environments. Flexible, diplomatic, inclusive leadership style and ability to work productively with contacts at all levels and in multiple cultures. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree preferred. Additional Instructions Quick Link Accountabilities Description Strategic Planning: In collaboration with the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives, develops and implements strategic plans that align with the organization's mission and goals. In collaboration with the Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging as well as the Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging developing and implementing DEIB-based programming that aligns with the organization's mission and goals. Collaborates with the Associate Director for Administration and Scientific Affairs to develop activities involving faculty in strategic planning to generate synergies that advance cancer-focused team science. Partners in the organization and implementation of strategic planning efforts, including establishment of timelines for goals, objectives, and action steps. Targets external funding opportunities and creates concepts, faculty teams, and programs to meet funding opportunity specifications. Designs and implements program improvements based on Center for Program Design and Evaluation guidance as well as improves existing programs to meet contemporary Dartmouth expectations of diversity as measured in trainees' lived experiences, community involvement, and education operations. Assists with the development of the narrative; researches, writes, and directs for documentation of DCC planning and outcomes for use with internal, external, and development audiences. Supports the development and implementation, and delivery of strategies that align with the Plan to Enhance Diversity (PED). Responds to National Cancer Institute requirements of increasing the pipeline for URM researchers in cancer, training students, and focuses on leadership training for inter- and transdisciplinary research teams Consults frequently with the DCC Director of Marketing to influence thematic communication, provide contemporaneous information about DCC achievements and concerns, connections with clinical and scientific personnel, and historical context. Is a key coordinator in the organization and delivery of the Strategic Plan. Drives initiatives that promote an inclusive and supportive environment. Percentage Of Time 35 Description Program Management: Assists in the development and implementation of programming related to Strategic Initiatives and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). Assists with or develops, creates, and delivers innovative programs to meet DCC's specific goals, including increased diversity at all academic levels; training programs and workshops for faculty, staff, and researchers; programming to build productive and adaptable training environment attractive to scientific learners in all levels and areas of cancer; meets DCC's specific goals, including supporting programs to address priorities, such as improved faculty success in clinical trial activity. Manages programming related to Strategic Initiatives and the DEIB portfolios. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, and milestones. Develops program budgets and oversees expenses; provides annual progress reports on NCI grants. Supports the preparation of reports and updates for senior leadership and stakeholders. Develop resources and tools to support ongoing DEIB education and awareness. Lead and manage cross-functional projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery within scope and budget. Builds bridges to leverage in-house and community-oriented joint efforts that will advance DCC's continuous flow of program improvement in synergistic education, diversity and inclusiveness, and community outreach to focus research on concerns of our catchment area. Supports engagement with key stakeholders, including academic institutions, research entities, and community partners, to drive strategic initiatives. Review and recommend changes to policies and procedures to ensure they promote DEIB principles. Advises on best practices for creating an inclusive and equitable work and research environment. Stays current with industry trends and best practices. Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and groups to support DEIB efforts. Advocate for and promote DEIB initiatives within academic and research communities. Percentage Of Time 55 Description Research and Analysis: Monitors, evaluates, and reports on the progress of strategic initiatives and DEIB metrics and progress, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Conducts research and analysis to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of DEIB initiatives and make recommendations for improvement. Devises evaluation and tracking system for presentation to the NCI of faculty progress toward NCI-specified strategic priorities, including Member recruitment, engagement in center-wide research themes, publications and external funding, career development, and specified priorities as related to the PED. Provides regular updates to leadership. Works closely with Institutional Research to review and analyze deidentified aggregate data.
