Senior Structural Engineer (US) (Remote) K2 Management is a dynamic, global, independent and leading consultancy working exclusively within the renewable industry. We are currently seeking an experienced Structural Engineer who can actively support our Civil Engineering Center of Excellence and contribute to the expansion of the company's market position through the development of our civil design services and support of ongoing projects. Based in the U.S., this position reports to our Head of Civil Engineering. The primary work will be remote based in the U.S. (preferably Mid-West or East-Coast)., though some support of other global work may be needed from time to time. Areas of responsibility: The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the civil engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, particularly for onshore wind projects, but capabilities and experience in solar projects as well as offshore wind are desired. You will be the subject matter expert for wind turbine foundation design and collection system layout, as well as all civil engineering aspects of the balance of plant portion of renewable energy projects including road design, substation layout, grading, etc.. This role involves defining requirement specifications for foundation and civil balance of plant designs and reviewing those designs, acting in the capacity of Owner's Engineer or providing due diligence services to investors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering and significant experience in wind energy projects. In your role, you will: Conduct detailed reviews of design documents, reports and calculations and provide technical guidance and recommendations for design improvements and optimizations. Act as the Owner's Engineer representing the client's interests during project development and execution. Project manage Owner's Engineer onshore wind scopes, supporting in the development of project schedules, budgets and resource plans. Identifying and address potential issues or risks related to the turbine foundations and civil balance of plant. Manage the development of wind turbine foundation designs from an Engineer of Record and optimize collection system layouts, meeting project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee the balance of plant design, including access roads, crane pads, substation grading, layout, foundation and associated infrastructure. Conduct site visits during project construction to verify appropriate implementation of civil designs, review overall construction quality of work, QA/QC documentation, etc. Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, regulatory bodies and provide clear and concise technical reports and presentations. · Support our regional offices and other departments such as our Project Management or our Due Diligence teams on all foundation and balance of plant related matters and sales activities. · Manage geotechnical and survey contractors. Qualifications: B.S. in Civil Engineering, Masters preferred, combined with 5+ years of professional experience from a similar position within the renewable industry. Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD. Pro, Plaxis, ArcGIS). Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ANSI, ACI, ASME, ASTM, IBC). Experience in engineering consultancy preferred. Good organizational skills and a structured working approach. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proactive, self-motivated and dedicated to delivering high quality work. Willing to support multiple teams and flexibility to support varying day-to-day business tasks. Structured, analytical and eye for details while at the same time able to take a high-level view of the situation. High ethical standards are required as well as a dedicated team player with diplomatic skills and high level of integrity.
