Holiday Requirements: Maybe Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: To provide multi-disciplined, skilled building operations and maintenance services, using generally accepted engineering and maintenance practices, to institutional, office, commercial and other type of buildings as assigned. Corrective maintenance is the prime function. Preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, minor renovation support and building occupant general maintenance services are prime functions. Qualifications: EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1 to 3 years experience in maintenance or similar field ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Computer Skills Basic computer knowledge: Uses word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail application, and web browser. Comfortable within a Windows OS and learning new applications. E-mail client Ability to use a Windows-based OS. Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other facilities/hospitals required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Required English Skills Basic reading skillsBasic writing skillsBasic oral skillsOther: good people-to-people munication Skills Ability to respond appropriately to customer/co-workerInteraction with a wide variety of peopleMaintain confidential informationAbility to communicate only the facts to recipients or to decline to reveal informationAbility to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor Essential Functions: DEVELOPS AND EFFECTIVELY UTILIZES A HIGH LEVEL OF EXPERTISE IN SERVICING BUILDING STRUCTURES, SYSTEMS, AND EQUIPMENT IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE OCCUPANT COMFORT AND SAETY AND TO MINIMIZE OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE EXPENSES. * Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as required. Some assistance may be required. * Performs minor carpentry and general maintenance repairs as required. * Provides support on energy management issues, along with compliance of OSHA, IDPH, JCAHO, and other code enforcement agencies. * Performs routine and special work assignments as assigned or through self-identification of need. This is accomplished in a safe, effective and efficient manner for improvement of the building and building systems being served. * Identifies areas for improvement or in need of repair and proceeds with appropriate actions through policies and procedures. * Works with staff in all buildings to provide a safe, comfortable environment. * Maintains familiarity with the building systems in all facilities and demonstrates the ability to diagnose, repair and maintain those systems. REMAINS CURRENT WITH ONGOING ADVANCES IN THEORY AND STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY APPLICABLE TO BUILDING OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE. CONTINUALLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABILITY TO BE RESOURCEFUL AND EFFECTIVE. DISPLAYS A WILLINGNESS TO WORK TOWARD A HIGHER LEVEL OF TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILL RELATED TO ALL ASPECTS OF BUILDING OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE. * Maintains a working knowledge of advancements in building systems, including energy management techniques and advanced products that are available. * Identifies areas for improvement for building operations and maintenance procedures, including PM scheduling/frequencies, and general practices. * Strives to provide maximum comfort and safety to building occupants while minimizing operating costs. PERFORMS PREVENTIVE AND CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING THE SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY OF MALFUNCTIONS OF BUILDING EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS, WHICH MAY IMPACT THE DAY TO DAY OPERATION AND USE OF SUCH. THIS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE IS GUIDED BY THE ESTABLISHED DEPARTMENTAL SCHEDULES AND MANUALS. * Develops and maintains an effective PM schedule for all building components. * Continually reviews components for durability and effectiveness. Adjusts PM schedules and/or changes specifications for products based on findings. * Maintains close communications with all office managers to keep informed of building issues. * Maintains open communications with staff responsible for the main campus.
