Description Position at Pleasanton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Registered Dietitian - Skilled Nursing Facility / $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 Generations Healthcare is in search of a Registered Dietitian to join our team. The primary role of the Registered Dietitian is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Food Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that quality nutritional services are being provided on a daily basis and that the food services department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. Position Overview: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct our facility's Food Services Department, its programs, and activities, ensuring physician orders are followed and making suggestions and recommendations for changes as needed. Coordinate food service activities with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Environmental, Activities, Social Services) and completing nutritional assessments, MDS's, and Care Plans in Point Click Care (Medical health record electronic system). Develop, implement, and maintain written departmental policies. Ensure staff is aware of and follows established policies. Assist the food services staff in the development and use of departmental procedures governing food service activities, equipment, supplies. Be responsible for obtaining/maintaining/filing material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals used or stored in the food services department. Ensure staff is trained in the use of MSDs and implement/oversee plan of care in care conferences, checking patient progress and goals toward meeting nutritional goals and determining effectiveness of care plan effectiveness; documenting outcome in progress notes and making adjustments as needed. Interpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary. Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies and keeping patient information current in PCC/Point Click Care for patient food, nutrition, and dining information. Review the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, at least annually for revisions. Make recommendations to the Administrator. Qualifications: Must possess, as a minimum, a bachelor's degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university. Have experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility. Training in cost control, food management, and diet therapy. Possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a dietitian in this state. Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing dietary functions in the nursing facility. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Food Services Department. Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of food service areas; must perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
