If you are interested, here's what we can offer you: Salary range from $67,890.16 - $82,395.30 annually Excellent pension, and health care benefits Paid leave and holidays Growth and advancement Educational assistance and reimbursement Examples of Duties Job Duties Responsible for coordinating all aspects of payroll processing and balancing each payroll prior to check disbursement. Verify employee timekeeping data, leave coding, and approvals and regularly communicate timekeeping issues with clerks / supervisors. Monitor sickness and accident benefit approvals, usage and time coding. Collect documentation and verify employee data to ensure proper payroll calculations. Update payroll and labor account information for promotions, transfers, new hires and terminations. Monitor organization, position and salary changes in the payroll system. Investigate and resolve payroll errors, inaccuracies and discrepancies Compute wages (acting, night differential, overtime, and supplemental earnings) based on Turnpike policies and union contracts. Monitor leave accruals and process leave balance payments as applicable. Configure and process a wide variety of payroll deductions, court ordered wage assignments, mandatory tax withholdings, and courtesy residence tax withholdings. Process disbursements of pay liabilities and report payroll expenses to accounting through GL interface, check requests, etc. Prepare and reconcile earnings registers, pay statements, tax filings and any other reports associated with payroll processing on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end basis. Maintain an understanding of Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), ensuring proper deductions and employer contributions based on earnable salary rules. Respond to OPERS requests for wage information. Maintain employee payroll files following department record retention schedules. Work closely with Human Resources and Accounting Departments. Maintain an understanding of union contracts and tax regulations. Process Annual Leave Conversion supplemental payroll based on OPERS approved plan rules. Performs year-end tasks and other duties as assigned. Provides excellent customer service to Turnpike staff and respond to requests for information in a timely manner. Serves as a back up to other Payroll team members to cover time off. Typical Qualifications Major Worker Characteristics Good working knowledge of accounting practices and tax laws. Ability to handle confidential material and work effectively in sensitive situations. Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills. Maintain a strong attention to detail in a deadline driven environment. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel. A basic understanding of timekeeping and payroll software (including Kronos and/or UKG); and the ability to quickly learn new platforms. * Demonstrate strong troubleshooting, analytical and technical ability. * Ability to think independently and make decisions based on knowledge of company policies, union contracts and general payroll administration. * (*) Developed after employment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED and 3-5 years of experience in accounting, payroll, or related field. Supplemental Information Unusual Working Conditions Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and deadlines. May travel to other Turnpike locations on an as-needed basis.
