Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian Date Posted: 10/22/2024 Location: Crestwood School District Date Available: Immediate Closing Date: Until Filled District: Crestwood School District CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION: To maintain schools and other facilities to the extent that students and employees can work in a healthy and safe environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a High School Diploma and have previous custodial experience ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Report to the Head Custodian who is responsible for the direction of housekeeping services in the facility. Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures. Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers. Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets. Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc. Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments. Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed. Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis. Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Attend emergencies when necessary. Attend safety meetings and other related meetings. Assist with inventory control and security. Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment. Support and enforce all policies, such as MIOSHA, etc. Enforce and support policies established by the Maintenance/Custodial Director. Ability to read and follow directions. Positive interpersonal skills needed to enhance the team spirit of cooperation. Some skill in operating and maintaining equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance/Custodial Director. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks. Occasionally, the employee will seek assistance when lifting and/or moving anything over 50 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid. The employee must be able to move about the assigned location unaided during the day.
