Accounts Payable Specialist The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare. Job Description This position will monitor assigned accounts to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of payments. Obtain appropriate approval of invoices and review for accuracy of information. Coordinate activities of A/P Department when the supervisor is out of the office. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES : Ability to independently manage all check runs. Provide support to other agency divisions in researching disbursement issues. Review batches for accuracy. Print checks and Submit ACH payments through the bank. Responsible for accuracy and timely payment of invoices. Handle escalated accounts payable issues and serve as a reliable backup to Accounts Payable Supervisor. Facilitate the training of new employees within the department. Assist with the preparation of yearly 1099 forms. Minimum Qualifications Experience : Requires at least three years of accounts payable experience. Education : Requires two years of college or technical certificate. Licenses and Certification Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Must have knowledge of accounting principles and account payable practices and procedure Must have the ability to supervise and train subordinates Must have good communication skills both verbally and in writing Must have experience with spreadsheets and automated accounting systems Familiarity with online banking systems is a plus *Grade 18: Min: $53,583 - Mid: $70,079 - Max: $86,655 | Salary determined by departmental budget- Offer commensurate with experience HOC is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
