This position will be responsible for providing assistance to the Assistant Chief Radiation Therapist and Chief Radiation Therapist in the management of daily operations for New York Proton Center radiation therapy services. The Radiation Therapist Lead will have 30+ direct reports. Duties and Responsibilities: In accordance with the strategic operational plan of the New York Proton Center, the Radiation Therapist Lead will promote and implement programming which facilitates organizational growth by performing the following functions: Collaborate with the Chief Radiation Therapist and Assistant Chief Radiation Therapist to facilitate daily clinical activities. Oversee the administration of safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment to ensure optimal patient care. Demonstrate practice-related learning and share knowledge and skills with others. Maintain flexible staff and patient scheduling to promote maximum and efficient patient throughput. Promote adherence to documented policies and procedures. Efficiently maintain clinical supply levels. Function as an inter-departmental liaison between and coordinate clinical operations with physicians, therapists, dosimetrists, physicists, nurses, and other staff to ensure that patients receive integrated, timely, and accurate treatments. Identify clinical environmental needs and demonstrate the appropriate follow-up action to address them. Identify challenges and opportunities for change or improvement. Clearly and concisely convey relevant information in both formal in informal documentation. Utilize appropriate communication with all members of the healthcare team. Encourage collaboration and input from all team members, valuing the contributions of others. Balance individual goals with those of the team. Conduct themselves as a professional role model. Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Perform other job-related duties, as assigned. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of a JCERT accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent, required. BS Degree in Radiation Therapy or a related health science field, preferred. License and Certification: Certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiation therapy, required. Licensed by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist, required. Certification in Basic Life Support/ CPR, required. Experience: Four years of experience as a radiation therapist with comprehensive clinical knowledge to include treatment delivery and simulation, required. Previous experience as a radiation therapist serving in a leadership role, required. Previous experience in proton radiation therapy, preferred. The salary range and/or hourly rate displayed is a determination of base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
