What we need: Environmental Supervisor What we do: At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws. What we need YOU to do: Ohio EPA wants you to be our newest environmental supervisor in the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW) at our Central Office in Columbus. You'll help ensure safe drinking water for Ohio. In this role, you'll develop, coordinate, and implement the agency's drinking water compliance program for lead and copper to ensure public water systems (PWS) are providing safe drinking water in accordance with state and federal regulations. You'll oversee development and implementation of data management systems to track analytical results and compliance of PWSs. Using our Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS), you'll coordinate requests for PWS compliance data, reports, and determinations for state and federal violations. As subject expert, you'll provide oversight, technical assistance, and regulation interpretation for the Lead and Copper rule to agency management and staff , implementation workgroups, and public water systems. You'll also assist the agency with the development and drafting of Ohio Administrative Code rules and regulations for lead and copper in drinking water. Let's run back the basics. • Ensure drinking water compliance program meets state and federal regulations for lead and copper. • Provide technical assistance to public water systems (PWS) and evaluate their compliance with lead and copper rules. • Oversee development and implementation of PWS data management systems. • Provide oversight, technical assistance, and regulation interpretation for the Lead and Copper rule to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications 5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or other comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to Department of Transportation) evaluating & approving complex engineering design plans, conducting most sensitive environmental surveillance activities &/or environmental pollution compliance monitoring inspections, investigating complex public health &/or environmental pollution problems, initiating complex enforcement actions, or assisting in planning, developing & maintaining specific environmental projects & programs; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding those in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training. -Or 12 mos. exp. as Environmental Specialist 2, 85862. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
