APHCV expects all employees to participate in APHCV's emergency response operations per our emergency policies and procedures. APHCV requires all staff to comply with Standards of Conduct and Compliance Program related policies and procedures. Such compliance is part of this position's performance evaluation. Clinical a. Per specialty, perform complete examination of patients including infants and children normally up to age 18. At the discretion of the Pediatrician, if special circumstances make sense to continue, this may be up to age 21 per the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). b. Assess and manage acute and chronic conditions and participate in disease registries work as required of APHCV by funders, insurers, and governmental entities. c. Assess all babies and children for developmental status or delay with referral when indicated in accordance with the AAP Bright Futures schedule. d. Screen all patients for health maintenance needs, including immunizations e. Educates patients and family members in health promotion, disease prevention and birth control methods as appropriate f. Assists in preparation and selection of patient education materials and provide anticipatory guidance to parents. g. Initiates diagnostic studies referring abnormal results of concern to Medical Director of specialist h. Provides preliminary telephone consultation to patients, when requested, inviting patients to be seen in APHCV preferentially. Also, contact patients for follow-up care in case of life threatening illness. Encourage patient to permit discussion with parent or caregiver unless it is a case of abuse. i. Assess all children and adolescents over the age of 12 for emotional stress including depression, suicidality, and gender dysphoria. If found, counsel and consider need to refer to LCSW. Tools such as Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) template are encouraged for use. j. Contact caregiver or patient in response to reports of adverse reaction to vaccines or medications. Arrange for Emergency Care or follow-up as needed. k. Helps coordinate efficient flow of patients through the system of care l. Helps monitor status of referrals m. Work with Maternal Child Health staff and Medical Records staff to obtain and review birth records and patient histories. Develop patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy. n. Provide Autistic Spectrum Disorder, basic mental health assessment, and treatment of non-emergent conditions such as anxiety, depression and simple eating disorders. o. Take a lead on risk reduction activities for the protection of both patients and the APHCV r. Alerts Medical Director of Medicolegal risk situations and works to reduce same s. Helps facilitate creation and tracking of patient data, specimens and records t. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods u. Helps provide triage services and treatment services during disaster, per protocol v. Rotate based on FTE with other Pediatricians to provide cross-coverage to fellow Clinicians during weekdays and weekends in a second call capacity when Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Providers request assistance. 2. Supervision and/or Support/guidance provision for ancillary staff (e.g. Maternal Child Health Unit staff) of your Care Team. Have the support of ancillary staff including MPH trained Maternal Child Health Unit Manager and CPSP staff. Includes assistance with developmental screening, immunization recall, referrals to regional centers, and continuity of care from prenatal to Pediatric care. a. Provide a proportionate share of daily supervision for his/her MA and other ancillary staff (such as MCH Unit staff) of your Care Team. Although MAs directly reports to their Nursing leadership, to the extent that MAs, directly work with Pediatrician, provide expectations and expectation to them. Provide feedback for improvement either directly or to Assistant Nurse Manager. b. Act as mentor and colleague to PA/NP. Comment, date, and sign their charts when legally needed for supervisory or corrective purposes. c. Provide consultative support, including differential diagnosis to NP, PA, LCSW, RD, triage nurse and other Physicians. d. Participate based on request from Medical Director in proctoring of new hire and newly graduated Providers when such mentorship does not adversely impact the Pediatrician's own care of Patients. 3. Management a. Provide a proportionate share of daily supervision and be able to act as mentor to PA/NP and co-sign their charts b. Provide consultative support, including differential diagnosis to NP, PA, mid-level Providers, triage nurse and other Physicians c. Participate in proctoring of new hire and newly graduated Providers 4. Administrative a. Provide trainings on procedures, risk management and emergency care b. Participate in Quality Assurance, peer review and maintain confidentiality c. Participate in quality improvement, chart audits, and process improvement programs both system wide and cluster specific d. Participate in cluster specific meetings and administrative task as assigned by Medical Director or cluster lead Clinicians e. Helps in recording of no-show visits and lab results/refills f. Participates or collaborate with marketing and other health education staff on education and patient recruitment health fairs g. Maintain current knowledge-base and appropriate licensure h. Maintain productivity per APHCV standard i. Assists in translation services when no alternative exists (staff translators available in several Asian languages) j. Ensure compliance with license requirements as stated in Title 22 k. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS: Licensed to work in the state of California as a Medical Doctor Graduate of a nationally accredited program CPR certified Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise Ability to convey a warm, caring attitude for patients while representing the best interest of APHCV Minimum 1 year experience in a primary care clinic Must be able to materially perform the task normally associated with the position including but not limited to: ability to lift up to 40lbs.
