What you can expect as a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Trainer at West Star: The Aircraft Lead Maintenance Trainer is responsible for assigning and coordinating work assignments with his/her Trainee; The maintenance trainer will facilitate the Training Program. The program consists of training modules, hands-on lab, and field training. The trainer will support the progress of each team member and provide appropriate feedback to the maintenance hub base manager. Assumes responsibility for all maintenance functions for his/her assigned team/shift. This position also manages his/her new Trainees' overtime and monitors daily work functions to include workload and ensure new Trainees are qualified for the work they perform. The qualified Trainer will be considered a working Trainer and is expected to oversee the new Trainees' work on the aircraft as well as provide leadership on the project. You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including: Deal with Customers in a cordial, respectful and professional manner, and promotes that personnel behaves accordingly. Provide accurate timely reporting to hub Base Manager, and Customer/Operations of status of in-service aircraft. Obtain customer approval on original, additional and/or revised estimates to accomplish maintenance on customer's aircraft. Coordinate line inspections to ensure the plan is followed and during delivery ensures paperwork accountability. To lead/train by example at all times, through professional behavior, integrity, commitment to the company and compliance with its policies. Supervise and direct activities of all Trainees assigned assuring all maintenance is completed in compliance with established company policies and procedures set in WSA (RSQCM), as well as applicable FAA regulatory guidelines. Proactively build Trainees skill sets, through motivation, communication, mentorship, and accountability. Review daily Trainees' performance and progress on aircraft to determine if any alteration to the plan and schedule is necessary and to ensure that tasks are completed within budgeted time. Ensure that all documentation is completed and signed off accurately in a timely manner. Assist with completing all required paperwork, review work orders of incoming aircraft to determine labor, parts, and equipment necessary to accomplish the assigned inspection, maintenance, and repair. Assist with requesting necessary parts, service, or equipment as required. Scrutinize the proper tagging of Aircraft work in progress, components, parts, and ensure panels are appropriately stored (including racks by aircraft). Ensure daily timekeeping requirements are completed on time and accurately. Oversee Trainees to ensure the work area and hangar are kept to the highest standards of safety and compliance. Enforce safety regulations and practices to avoid accidents. Strictly enforce good housekeeping practices with the objective of securing an environment conducive to employee well-being. Ensure that tools and equipment are correctly used and handled by Trainees for both safety and to reduce breakages and wear and tear. Require Trainees to report any tool malfunctions promptly to be replaced or repaired accordingly. Willing and able to work rotating shifts including nights, holidays, weekends, and days off. Travel both foreign and domestic as needed. Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. What you'll need to bring with you: Your Education : A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal Your Experience: 5+ years' experience in the aircraft maintenance field having direct involvement with FAR 135 and/or 145 policies and procedures. Your Initiative: We're looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Your Sense of Responsibility: Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer oriented work habits. Other particulars: Physical Requirements Lifts 70 lbs. Stand or sit for prolonged periods while performing repairs Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft. in the air) using fall protection safety gear Mental Requirements Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines. Work with others in a professional manner. Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and Adobe. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $50.00 to $60.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, shift, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other forms of compensation include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid vacation.
