Overview Cohen & Company Certified Public Accountants Our State & Local Tax (SALT) group has years of experience working with issues related to multistate clients with nexus in multiple states and municipalities. Team members assist clients with income and franchise tax compliance, tax provision calculations and legislative updates, as well as consulting around opportunities, such as nexus studies, refund claims and audit support, sales tax consulting, buy and sell side diligence, credits and incentives, and unclaimed property. Responsibilities Oversee overall client experiences including deadline management/client expectations Calculate tax effects of transactions, conduct technical tax research, and manage tax partner expectations Handle billing/WIP management Operate in a dynamic environment, coach staff/seniors/managers, and share your knowledge and experience with the entire team Coordinate multiple engagement teams' schedules and deadlines Review the tax returns and manage tax workflow Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Excellent leadership and organizational skills Strong external and internal communication required, due to client facing role and importance of strong partnership with internal engagement teams Understanding of Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, etc. Required Strong understanding of CCH Axcess required Develop strong relationships internally, and flexibility are required and keys to success Initiative to learn, ask questions, operate in a fast-paced environment, challenge the status quo Experience with corporations or flow through entity tax, ASC 740, tax provisions, c-corps tax, M&A tax, ERC tax credit, and tax consulting work are a plus CPA or JD required at the manager level 5+ years of progressive experience at a public accounting firm Experience advising clients on a variety of consulting and compliance engagements focusing on state and local direct tax Experience conducting tax research and analyzing a wide variety of tax issues, including state tax legislation, and assisting with the compliance and investor reporting process. Skills and attributes for success: Positive attitude and willingness to be a team player Excellent time and project management skills Ability to maintain and develop strong relationships with clients and internally to meet or exceed expectations Willingness and ability to learn new concepts with minimal guidance Solid understating of challenges related to state & local tax returns including partnership and corporate state & local tax returns with attention to multistate tax issues. A practical understanding of tax credits and incentives Proficiency in juggling multiple priorities while managing internal and external stakeholders Enthusiasm for coaching and developing team members Estimated Salary Range: $85,000 - 155,000* *Salaries offered to candidates are determined based on factors such as candidate's relevant skillset, experience, licensure, and certifications, as well as job responsibilities, geography, market considerations, and organizational needs.
