Position Type: Custodial/Maintenance/Maintenance General Date Posted: 8/19/2024 Location: District-Wide Date Available: ASAP District: Hamilton City School District - website Position: Long Term Substitute Custodian Immediate Supervisor: Director of Buildings and Grounds SALARY: $17.01/Hr. HOURS: 40 hours per week M-F KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs routine cleaning operations in assigned scheduled area using established practices and procedures. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and/or locker rooms using established practices and procedures. Checks paper and soap dispensers and restocks as necessary. Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Uses and maintains all equipment assigned to perform job duties, including but not limited to: hand tools, mops, squeegees, vacuums, auto scrubber, buffer, carpet extractor, burnisher, Kaivac, pressure washer, ladder, lift, string trimmer, mower, utility vehicle, etc. Assists with the setup and/or break-down of the facility for meetings, conferences, events, etc. Responsible for building security, including locking doors and windows and reporting any unauthorized occupants. Performs minor maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, changing light bulbs and ceiling tiles and other minor repairs. Reports maintenance issues to the Lead or Head Custodian Reports any vandalism or safety hazards to the Lead or Head Custodian. Takes immediate action to insure safety to building occupants. Performs project work as needed including, but not limited to, deep cleaning of furniture, fixtures and areas, moving of furniture, boxes and other items, scrubbing and stripping floors, laying floor finishes, minor maintenance, and grounds and landscaping work. When needed, performs tasks to ensure safe access to and through the building including, but not limited to, snow removal from walkways and entrances, application of ice melt material, and mopping accumulated water from the corridors and placing wet floor signs. May receive, transport, and deliver supplies as needed. Provides assistance as needed to school faculty and staff. Performs related work as required or assigned. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of tasks. Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform work independently. Ability to comprehend the schedule for all the assigned areas. Basic understanding of the chemicals, processes and/or equipment used to complete tasks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of communications devices and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions. Ability to climb ladders and to lift a minimum of fifty pounds. Some exposure to hazards in the operation of motorized equipment; exposure to body fluids and excrement, pesticide, solvents, acids and alkalis. Some exposure to dirt, noise, dust and odors.
