This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain your DoD Secret level clearance. Serco supports the US Navy at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport Rhode island. Our team installs, upgrades, maintains and manages the electrical hardware and related industrial components and systems across multiple NUWC Departments and facilities to ensure the safety of the Sailors, Government, and contractor personnel and to allow them to perform their missions successfully. You will be part of a 5060 member team that collaborates closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems. The designated program manager leads this team with over 39 years experience. The team has been recognized by the Navy and the industry for their outstanding contributions to NUWC's contracts and programs. In this role, you will: Function independently or as part of a project team to provide routine and emergency facility maintenance on electrical, mechanical, utility, and other systems. Perform of a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Conduct routine, periodic special inspections of premises to determine repair work necessary to prevent breakdown of facilities, machinery and equipment. Obtain and interprets equipment characteristics data from available sources and transcribes to required formats. Design and develops electrical sketches and charts for preliminary or final reports or briefings. Assist in the training of less experienced staff. Test, inspect, troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary. Prepare appropriate technical documentation as required. Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will have: High school diploma and 5 to 7 years of experience. Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance is required for employment. Must hold a valid electrician license in the state of Rhode Island to support the repair of energized equipment. Knowledge of volt/ohm/amp meter tracing power and circuits. Ability to read wiring diagrams. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be able to communicate effectively.
