DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will offer targeted psychological services to meet the mental health and emotional adjustment needs of the inmate population at SCI Smithfield. Your responsibilities will include providing counseling and limited therapy to individual inmates or groups, employing psychological techniques to manage and modify inmate behavior, and conducting interviews and evaluations to determine initial treatment plans. You will assist with administering, scoring, and interpreting standard psychological tests and instruments. Additionally, you will refer inmates to specialized psychologists or higher-level specialists for more detailed assessment or therapeutic intervention. Coordination with other institutional departments, agencies, and state mental health facilities will be key to ensuring effective delivery of services to individual inmates. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $61,903.00 (before taxes). Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field, which includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology, counseling, educational counseling, rehabilitation, human development, learning, or motivation. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement.
