Doble Engineering Company seeks Technical Application Engineer in Marlborough, MA - Provide pre and post-sales, technical, and training support on operation and application protection hardware and software to potential and existing customers. Support the Regional Sales Managers in demonstrating Doble protection hardware and software to potential customers. Provide support to Doble customers via email, telephone, and web-based solutions. Prepare test plans for various models of protection relays, meter, transducer, and control devices and systems for use in various Doble software applications, including worksheets and programming scripts to make them reusable and automated. Deliver training to customers on testing techniques and applications of Doble protection hardware and software solutions. Support new product development and current product enhancement via incorporation of customer feedback. Write technical papers, application notes, and guides on topics related to Doble products and services and present them at Doble conferences and other technical conferences. Assist in providing technical expertise for Doble research and development projects. Support other engineers with technical expertise within the department and other departments within the company. Participate in conferences/trade shows and other company sponsored events, including committee meetings, general sessions, user group meetings, and meeting with customers. Communicate customer needs to Doble management, members of the TAE Department, Solutions Managers. Collaborate with other departments (primarily Engineering, Client Service Engineering, and Marketing) and all individuals to facilitate positive working relationships with all internal and external Doble stakeholders. Provide support in testing new products and software evaluation to improve overall product quality and make feature suggestions to Engineering. Report existing issues via established software bug-logging system and more comprehensive Doble-wide system and provide customer issue resolution to bug-related issues with existing products. Provide basic language support via term extraction from manuals, guides, brochures, and other product literature. Serve in a train-the-trainer role internally for other Doble employees to understand various products. Continuously work to upgrade skills concerning computers, software, test theory, test equipment operation, apparatus operation, and training presentations, following the ISO 9001 Standard Operating Procedures. Serve as a trainer on various Doble products to the Sales teams and Channel Partners. Required: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical or Power and Energy Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or related protective relay testing engineering position within the electrical power industry. Must have: Experience with Doble protection hardware and software solutions, including F6150, ProTest, & Protection Suite. Experience working with testing protection devices, including simple electromechanical relays, meters, transducers, and control devices, as well as complex numerical multifunction protection and automation devices and systems, protection schemes based on IEC61850. Experience with Communication Network Technologies. Experience with different application protection and control schemes and practices, as well as understanding and drawing schematic diagrams. Experience with testing and diagnostics of protection and control schemes in the field as well as in the laboratory environment. Experience working with mathematical concepts for modeling relay characteristics and fault calculations and transients. Experience with customer service. Experience teaching and relating ideas or concepts to individuals with varied experience levels. Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio). Project management experience including meeting critical deadlines while managing multiple priorities. Able to work remotely from any U.S. location within 60 minutes of a major international airport. Domestic and international travel required up to 50% of the time. Salary range $108,722 - $118,208.96 per year. Submit application online at requisition number TECHN002478.
