Registered nurses are actively involved in the continued evidence-based development of best practices to ensure individualized and desired SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) is a registered professional nurse who provides exemplary specialized, trauma-informed medical forensic services to all individuals who present with a complaint or concern of sexual assault. These services will be prompt, non-judgmental and compassionate while encouraging autonomy and reducing trauma. The medical forensic services may include a medical forensic exam and evidence collection, counseling for needed laboratory and imaging tests, counseling for emergency contraception, prophylactic treatment for sexually transmitted infections, photo documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings as needed.This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Corporate Services, ICARE standards, adherence to the Code of Conduct, organization policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Administration and Code of Ethics for Nurses JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Training/Experience:REQUIRED:Graduate of an RN School of Nursing1-year RN experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWell-developed written and oral presentation skillsWell-developed interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills including crucial conversationsHighly organized, prioritizes with good time management skillsAbility to meet project timelines and deadlinesPerforms adequate physical assessment of patientsAbility to work effectively with patients, healthcare team and members of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)License/Certifications/Special Requirements:Current RN Illinois license in good standingBLS certification upon hire and required to remain currentEarn 10 Continuing Education Credits annually related to sexual assault/abuse care, advancement in technology and innovations within the specialtyAdult/Adolescent SANE and/or Pediatric/Adolescent SANE certificate of completion within 12 months of hireCertified SANE-A or Certified SANE-P as soon as eligible (preferred)Pay Status:Non-Exempt HourlyOn-call pay per organizational pay structure$250 per Illinois State Police Evidence Collection Kit (ISPECK) and/or forensic exam completionEEO Statement: Blessing Health System provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
