Salary: $120,000 - $125,000 (Offer will be commensurate with experience) Benefits offered for this opportunity: Non-Union Benefits Summary Role Summary: The Deputy Director of Human Resources provides operational and broad strategic support to the Human Resources & Labor Relations Director. Responsibilities in collaboration with the Director, include planning, leading and managing daily departmental operations; providing direction to division leadership to facilitate strategic planning, program development, establishment of annual goals and objectives, personnel management and customer service improvements. Areas of oversight may include Human Resources Services (Labor & Employee Relations and Policy & Procedure Administration), Recruitment, Classification and Compensation, HRIS, Benefits, Performance Management and Learning Management systems and processes, and facilitating Training and Organizational Development endeavors. Strategic partnering with Organizational Equity regarding City-wide DEIJA+ initiatives and Finance regarding budget and compensation matters. Education, Training and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in human resource management, organizational behavior, public administration or a related field. Ten (10) plus years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources Management. At least five (5) years of labor relations experience, including leading and supporting negotiations, grievance processing, mediation and arbitration processes. The City of Ann Arbor will consider an alternative combination of education and experience. Education, Training and Experience Preferred: Master's degree and/or professional HR certification. Experience leading HR in public services (government municipality). Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement.
