Job: Associate Director, Individual Giving Job Summary: Reporting to the Director, Individual Giving, the Associate Director, Individual Giving is a key member of the Individual Giving team working closely and collaboratively with team members and other Development officers and staff to achieve annual fundraising goals. The Associate Director focuses efforts on cultivation of young alumnae who are one to ten years from graduation. The Associate Director is directly responsible for managing a portfolio of 150+ actively managed donors/prospects as well as 8-15 classes including two or three milestone reunion classes. Assigned prospects in the portfolio have graduation dates that fall within the same assigned class years in most cases. The Associate Director works closely with alumnae Class Agents serving as an enthusiastic and inspirational leader actively involved in enhancing volunteer support systems to drive robust, sustainable levels of giving and participation in assigned classes each year. The Associate Director is held accountable for the dollar and participation goals for each class. The Associate Director is also responsible for an Annual Fund and Major Gift dollar goal, and a Planned Giving conversation goal (if applicable) for the assigned portfolio. The Associate Director helps to recruit class volunteers, set class goals, and plan fundraising outreach and strategies to ensure class goals are met. As part of the Individual Giving team, the Associate Director assists in developing and planning annual giving strategies and cultivation events whether in person or virtual. The Associate Director is a member of the Barnard Development team composed of Individual Giving, Major Giving, Planned Giving and Parents Giving. Job Description: Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Actively manage a portfolio of approximately 150+ donors/prospects. Develop and execute solicitation strategies to secure unrestricted annual gifts, renew or upgrade donors to leadership annual giving levels, discuss and secure restricted or endowed gifts and planned gifts where appropriate, and thank donors in a meaningful manner. 2. Help to recruit and train new volunteers, prepare volunteer and solicitation materials, and assist in setting class dollar and participation goals. 3. Coordinate volunteer assignments, provide solicitation lists/names and other necessary information to volunteers, monitor/track/report on individual volunteer and class-specific progress toward dollar and participation goals. 4. Work closely with Class Agents to help devise/implement fundraising strategies/programs for assigned milestone reunions, including the planning, scheduling and running of reunion fundraising committee meetings. 5. Coordinate and manage class giving programs for non-reunion assigned years and maintain close personal contact with Class Agents to help achieve class dollar and participation goals. 6. Plan and implement programs and events for engagement and cultivation of alumnae who graduated within the past ten years, in collaboration with Alumnae Relations and Special Events teams, as necessary. 7. Attend all required Development and Alumnae Relations team meetings and events, as necessary and/or as directed. 8. Work with the Director, Individual Giving and other Individual Giving team members to develop and implement additional fundraising programs, as assigned. 9. Partner with Development and Alumnae Relations departments to meet departmental goals. 10. Perform additional duties, as needed. Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 annually Skills, Qualifications & Requirements: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to deal with the public with a high degree of diplomacy, confidentiality and tact Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment Ability to lead, inspire, and encourage large groups of high-impact volunteers Strong organizational skills, including the ability to set clear goals, priorities, and manage time effectively Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of attention to organization and detail Ability to adhere strictly to rules regarding confidential information Ability and willingness to travel and to work outside of standard business hours including some weekends and evenings The highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, and timeliness of follow-through Knowledge of the principles of fundraising and a demonstrated track record of success Knowledge of and commitment to the values and mission of Barnard College and higher education Must meet the department's core values of collaboration, aspiration, transparency, respect, accountability, and trust Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required Minimum three to five years of fundraising experience, preferably in higher education Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in Higher Education preferred. Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus, but not required Physical Requirements: Ability to perform customary office tasks such as computing and answering the telephone for moderate to prolonged periods of time with light to moderate reaching, bending, and lifting. Additional Information: This job is currently a hybrid position and may require a presence in the office up to five times a week, including for team and full staff meetings and other times as directed by the supervisor. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
