Summary: This position will work under the direct supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Trainer to assist in providing athletic training services for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Keuka College. This will include but not be limited to providing basic first aid and treatment of athletic injuries, practice and game preparation/coverage, and assisting in the documentation of medical records. The Athletic Training Student Assistant will have the expectation that this position, from a healthcare-related major, will bring learned materials and ideas from the classroom setting to be utilized to enhance their work experience just as their work experience would enhance the classroom experience and will prepare to make critical decisions and deal with those situations in a professional manner. Essential Responsibilities: Maintenance and cleaning of the training room. Office work such as filing, preparing medical records/reports, treatment/rehab statistics. Basic treatment and rehab of athletic injuries as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer/Assistant Athletic Trainer. Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork. Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required. Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies. Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures. Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required. Perform other functions as assigned by management. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Eligible for a Federal work-study or Keuka work-study award. A Keuka College student in the undergraduate traditional on-campus program. Prefer students majoring in Occupational Therapy, Education, Biology, Clinical Science; basically a health profession or a student wanting coaching certification. CPR and AED certified. Flexibility, responsibility, and dependability are a must. Expect a high level of professionalism in presentation and attitude. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people. Physical Requirements: Occasional travel with an intercollegiate sports team. Required to work in inclement weather on occasion. Evening and weekend hours are required.
