SGH seeks a motivated and talented engineer to help grow our structural engineering practice with emphasis on repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, investigation and performance evaluation of existing and new structures, and design of new structures. Typical project work includes investigating deteriorated or underperforming structures, conducting structural evaluations for new and existing structures, preparing detailed calculations, developing drawings and specifications, executing construction administration, writing investigative reports, preparing client presentations, managing project budgets and schedules, assisting with mentoring and development of junior staff, and interacting with facility owners, public agencies, contractors, and architects. What You'll Be Doing: Work on a wide range of structural engineering projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures. Projects may include conventional or archaic / antiquated structural systems. Plan and conduct site investigations to document existing conditions and lead the development of investigation reports. Prepare contract drawings and specifications for repair designs and the design of new structures. Execute the construction administration phase of projects, including bid assistance, submittal review, site meetings, observations of completed work, etc. Serve as a manager on projects that may include: Condition assessments of existing buildings and other structures. Investigation of structural failures and adverse performance issues. Preparation of technical reports Development of options analysis for clients to make informed decisions. Design of rehabilitation and restoration measures for existing structures and preparation of construction documents, including adaptive re-use Structural design and detailing for new building and non-building structures. Manage the work of younger staff and delegate tasks to them as appropriate. Communicate directly with clients within context of assigned work. Pursue and engage in professional activities for continued learning experience and to gain professional recognition. Present technical findings at project meetings, conferences, and publications. Actively contribute to internal technical training and mentoring. What You'll Need: Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis, investigation, and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood-frame structures. Master of Science or Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering. Structural Engineering (16-hour structural exam) license required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Proficiency in writing and editing of project specifications, technical reports, field reports, project correspondence, and proposals. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Experience with computer analysis software, such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA, RAM, and SAFE. Familiarity with design codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, and material design standards produced by AISC, ACI, TMS, and NDS. Proficiency in drawing preparation using Revit or AutoCAD. Proficiency in software used for engineering computations, including Mathcad and Microsoft Excel. Ability to travel to out-of-state projects on occasion and ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation. Anticipated annual base salary: $88,920 - $123,760 . This range is a good faith estimate pursuant to applicable equal pay and pay transparency laws. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including the candidate's experience, qualifications and work location. Base salary is a part of SGH's industry leading Total Compensation package.
