The unit of External Awards and Reconciliation within the Office of the Bursar is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Accountant - Supervisor. The responsibilities for the Accountant include, but are not limited to the following: Prepare monthly Fund Management reports. Work closely with the Office of Student Aid to monitor the disbursement of Title IV funds as related to the Fund Management report and recording the Administrative Cost Allowance received from the disbursement of Title IV funds. Assist with completion of annual Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP), including other University Financial year-end reporting. Apply, Invoice, and collect payments from military organizations and third-party contract benefits to student accounts. Reconcile third-party receivable General Ledger account(s). Reconcile Title IV federal aid program accounts. Record cash receipt journal entries and submit Non-Purchase Order Invoice requests related to the functions above. Supervision of unit staff. The successful candidate for this position must possess the following characteristics: Excellent communication skills to address unique situations and concerns in daily interactions with various Penn State offices, outside agencies, parents, and students. Excellent problem-solving skills to plan, organize, and direct work objectives, priorities, and deadlines. High level of professionalism and the ability to meet specific deadlines, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications including Excel and experience with student and business systems/software is highly desirable. This position minimally requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
