This role is project focused with a concentration in the life sciences industry. The Sr Controls Engineer will interact directly with customers and lead a team of engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing automation solutions. The Sr Engineer should have experience and capability to execute at every stage of the project life cycle. This role will focus on leading and mentoring a young team of engineers. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with demonstratable mentoring and leadership experience. There is further career progression available for candidates that wish to pursue it. Position Responsibilities: Deliver innovative automation solutions for Life Sciences projects Lead daily operations and activities of a projects Develop control system architecture Select the components to be used for the control system Detail schematic diagrams and system documentation Programming controllers (PLC, DCS) Programming the process visualization (HMI/SCADA) Develop databases for historical system data Implement control systems at the client's facility Collaborate with project manager on; developing project execution plans, work breakdown structures and associated budgets, task prioritization and scheduling, task ordering, time tracking and reporting, financial tracking and reporting, early problem identification, conflict resolution, attending project status meetings. Also includes Technical writing including project definition and requirements, status reporting, process control sequence of operations, standard practices and procedures, scope of supply, requests for information, customer correspondence and code commenting Desirable Skills, Experience, Education Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering Experience with Rockwell and Ignition Experience with S88 and GAMP5 Experience with Automation of Batch processes In-depth understanding of PLC, HMI, DCS, SCADA Understanding of DCS hardware/software Emerson DeltaV - desirable Experience in the life sciences industry Experience in design of electrical schematics, control panels, including power distribution under 480VAC, and associated NEC references desired. Experience with AutoCAD is also desired Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions Experience mentoring less experienced engineers Professional references, preferably one from each of the following: a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
