The Michigan Milk Producers Association is looking for an experienced Facility Maintenance Mechanic to join our team, in our Middlebury, IN facility. As a maintenance repair technician, you will contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities. The primary purpose of this role is to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and other tasks to ensure the efficient functioning of our equipment and systems. ABOUT US: The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) established in 1916 is a dairy farmer-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative and dairy processor. As the 10th largest dairy cooperative in the U.S., MMPA serves dairy farmers throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana, employing approximately 625 people in four states. In addition to a cheese plant in Indiana called the Middlebury Cheese Company, and a dairy product plant in Ohio called Superior Dairy, MMPA operates two SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan. Products made at MMPAs plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultra-filtered milk, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk. WHY YOULL LOVE WORKING HERE: Competitive salary Health and wellness benefits with medical coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield, including mental health benefits Disability insurance Paid time off Retirement including 401k with employer contributions Personal and professional growth opportunities Employee appreciation events and recognition awards Employee wellness initiatives Employees feedback and suggestion forums JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Uphold Food Safety Work safely and be organized Responsible for the repair and maintenance of production machinery & equipment, physical plant, utilities & grounds in accordance with company policies & procedures Basic troubleshooting and repair of steam, hydraulic and pneumatic systems Repair and install sanitary type pumps and valves Basic plumbing and drain repair and installation Basic repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems Complete projects in timely manner Lift up to 50 pounds Be able to climb and work safely at heights Work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment Fabricate, cut, weld and repair stainless steel Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Chemical Safety Procedures. Perform any tasks necessary to ensure a Safe Quality Food product is produced. Perform any and all related duties as may be required or necessary. Work with the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager to meet annual goals of production, maintenance repair goals, special projects and any jobs deemed necessary. All other tasks as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn new concepts Basic knowledge and experience pertaining to electrical systems Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, control panels, electric motors Good understanding of physical measurements Basic knowledge of personal computer-based equipment Troubleshoot various maintenance problems Ability to work with little or no supervision Ability to work and communicate verbally, in writing, via phone or radio effectively with a variety of individuals Dependable and available to be on call at all hours Adaptable to on-the-job training Team player Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task Join us in maintaining the highest standards in the dairy industry!
