Venable LLP's Advertising and Marketing Group seeks a midlevel associate with two to five years of experience to join the practice in the Washington, D.C. or New York office. The successful candidate is experienced in providing legal counseling on various advertising and marketing practices and is well-versed in all aspects of investigations and litigation. Experience practicing before the Federal Trade Commission, state consumer protection agencies, the National Advertising Division, and with consumer class actions is preferred. The ideal candidate has experience in advertising copy review, sweepstakes and promotions counseling, and familiarity with FTC rules and regulations, pricing laws, telemarketing laws and regulations, autorenewal laws, advertising agreements, and email marketing laws. This role works with a variety of clients ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups to major brands and international retailers. The successful candidate has excellent oral and written communication skills, and outstanding academic credentials. Candidates must hold a juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to and in good standing with the relevant jurisdiction's bar.
