Job Description Maintain the condition and repair of the Kroger owned fleet of delivery equipment in the defined area of responsibility. Provide direction and leadership to fleet repair facilities and capitalize on synergies for cost savings and best practices. Responsibilities - Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports - Manage the total asset inventory of tractors and trailers within the defined network - Ensure all mechanics are compliant with technical certifications required by the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - Compare actual parts inventory to stated parts reports - Develop plans to correct variances and coach managers on how to solve for the problems that created the issues - Ensure preventative maintenance (PM) program compliance is being completed and is effective - Work with teams to improve PM compliance and monitor impact - Monitor external repair partners to ensure that they meet performance and reliability standards - Leverage fleet size to negotiate national contracts that can have cost savings impact - Create a safety culture by ensuring that all company safety process are in place and goals are being met - Ensure facility is compliant with OSHA and environmental safety requirements; correct non-compliance - Document best practices from sites and develop plans for standardization - Compare dollars spent on repair against industry benchmarks and internal budgets; explore opportunities for reducing spend and improving results - Travel to garage sites within the area of responsibility to provide support and conduct audits - Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation Qualifications Minimum - Ability to work with fleet vehicle maintenance and inventory management software - Understanding of requirements for onsite bulk fuel storage and hazardous waste disposal - Knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements - Ability to coach and develop associates Desired - Other Trade school degree with certification in diesel mechanics - Experience in trailer maintenance and refrigerated trailer repair - Multi-site maintenance and repair site leadership About Us From one tiny Cincinnati grocery store more than a century ago, we've grown into what today is the nation's largest grocer with nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states operating under 28 different names.
