Position Description: MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST II (HVAC) Classification: Non-Exempt Level 17 - $21.50 - $25.80 ( Based on experience/qualifications) 12-Month Work Calendar Reports to: Director of Facilties and Operations & Maintenance Coordinator Statement of General Responsibilities: Under general direction of management personnel, assists in maintaining HVAC Systems District-wide. Employee is responsible for the efficient functioning of the district's heating and ventilation systems. The employee will independently troubleshoot heating, ventilation, or air conditioning problems, recommend parts needed and work procedures to maintain efficient functioning of HVAC and energy management control systems within the school district. Essential Functions and Principal Duties: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: Install, modify, troubleshoot, test and repair all district heating, ventilating and air-conditioning equipment and energy management control systems. Layout, fabricate and install mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic temperature controls for heating and ventilating systems and components. Inspect air-conditioning and refrigeration units for evidence of refrigerant leaks or mechanical damage Maintain operate and repair electrical, mechanical and structural systems for all district facilities May perform duties related to carpentry, masonry, painting, plastering, plumbing, steam fitting, mechanical or electrical work, machinist's trades, etc. Order and stock temperature controls, valves, and related parts Keep all HVAC systems in a safe and serviceable condition and operating in compliance with state and local codes. Operate, maintain and repair power tools and equipment used to perform essential duties. Operate automotive equipment to transport materials and supplies. Report misuse or abuse of facilities and equipment to the Maintenance Coordinator Follow district policies and procedures and directions from the Maintenance Coordinator. Coordinate major repairs or additions to heating, air-conditioning and ventilating equipment with the Maintenance Coordinator. Responds to district emergencies. Ability to prioritize electronic work orders, complete ordering, requisitions estimates, and repairs then finalize work orders online. KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of electricity and electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Knowledge of electrical codes. Knowledge of digital, pneumatic, electric and electronic temperature controls Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs Knowledge of tools and HVAC equipment operation Knowledge and application of safety procedures related to essential functions Skills using computer applications Physical Requirements: Employees in this position must have the following ability: Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required to operate power and motorized equipment using both hands. Physical agility to frequently stop, kneel, bend, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, lift and move objects up to 50 pounds shoulder height and occasionally lift in excess of 50 pounds with assistance. Demonstrate normal depth perception. Stand and walk for extended periods. See and read printed matter, with or without visual aids, distinguish colors, read and understand rules and policies, labels and instructions. Verbal communications including the ability to speak and hear at normal room levels. Ability to use telephones and office equipment. Job Requirements: (Minimum Qualifications) High School Diploma or GED Required 2 - 3 years of HVAC Experience Required Valid Arizona Driver's License Required Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 20% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under with some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
