P osition: Director, Marketing and Communications Classification: Full-time, Exempt Reports to: Sr. Vice President, Advancement Location: Houston, TX Benefits: Robust benefits package, generous PTO, matching retirement Position Description: The Director of Marketing and Communications works directly with the Sr. VP of Advancement to develop and execute DePelchin's strategic goals and objectives for marketing, public relations, and communications. The Director of Marketing and Communications provides guidance and support to marketing and communication staff while fostering collaboration with other departments to ensure effective prioritization and execution of marketing and communication activities. Primary responsibilities include: Provide leadership, strategic vision, and direction to a team of marketing and communication specialists while also being a key hands-on contributor. Oversee the strategy, implementation, and management of DePelchin's marketing, public relations, and communication program. Responsible for building awareness and support for DePelchin's wide range of service programs in order to drive philanthropy, client participation, and community support. Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of all marketing and communications resources, including digital and traditional content as well as collateral for distribution. Ensures that brand identity, messaging, marketing, and communications strategy are infused in all organizational efforts through effective collaborations with all DePelchin entities. Measure, track, and analyze marketing and communication strategy and campaign results to inform effective decision-making and report on to leadership as needed. Develop and oversee all media relations, including-but not limited to-pitching stories, facilitating interviews, and generally overseeing all media interactions while being prepared to act as agency liaison as needed. Serving as DePelchin's lead writer and editor for external communications. Work closely with the Director of Donor Engagement and Director of Donor Relations to ensure alignment between traditional marketing and communication strategies and fundraising and donor-specific communication strategies. Provides oversight and collaboration with third-party vendors, as needed. Create and maintain DePelchin's editorial calendar. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field. Five (5) years of related work experience in nonprofit marketing/communications. Experience managing marketing/communications staff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with SEO best practices and content distribution tactics. Proficiency in social media platforms and social media management tools. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of design principles and multimedia content creation. Expertise in reporting on marketing strategies and tracking overall public engagement in marketing efforts. Ability to carry out duties in a manner that promotes good teamwork between all departmental and agency staff and supports the agency and development of philosophy, policies, and procedures.
