Job Title: Construction Estimator Location: New York, New York, United StatesBlack Owl Recruiting is seeking experienced Construction Estimator for an esteemed client based out of New York, NY. Estimators are responsible for accurately determining the total costs associated with a construction project by executing a detailed line-item budget for each trade. The ideal candidate must have an acute attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with fixed deadlines.Responsibilities:Prepare detailed conceptual budgets and estimating from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documentsPerform detailed take-offs of all trades. Initiate and manage entire bid process (construction management and general contractor) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packageEnsure accurate and proper submissions & proposals by all subcontractorsBuild and maintain vendor relationshipsCollaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractorsWork collaboratively with field team to communicate deliverables and procurement schedulesLevel subcontractor bid proposals for accuracy and scope gapsPrepare scope of work documentation by divisionAttend and lead subcontractor calls and meetings as neededConduct on-site walk-throughs as neededQualifications & Experience:4+ years of experience in budgeting and estimating for commercial construction projects. Both core & shell and commercial interior knowledge required. Retail construction or banking construction experience a plus.Proven ability to compile complete estimates and hard bid packages with trade breakdowns Procurement and MS Project scheduling experienceStrong presentation skills and ability to lead or participate meetings with subcontractors, clients, owners, and architects as neededDemonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-taskAbility to deliver to deadlines for multiple concurrent projects Excellent time management and organizational skillsDemonstrated proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specificationsAbility to value engineer a projectKnowledge of Tri-State subcontractor baseCollege degree preferredHigh proficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong knowledge of MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook SageTimberline skills preferredKnowledge of On-Screen Takeoff preferred In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the Company's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $110,000 - $165,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and specific performance awards.
