Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for Head of Sourcing.The Opportunity:An innovative manufacturer experiencing exponential growth is looking for a Head of Sourcing to lead and grow a team of sourcing professionals responsible for the strategic sourcing and purchasing of all direct materials to support manufacturing operations of the organization. Location:The role will be based in the Boston, MA areaFull time in office.Essential Functions of the Job:Builds organizational strength, leads the development and execution of robust direct materials sourcing strategies, negotiates agreements, manages strategic supplier relationships, and drives continuous improvement year over year savings.Serve as the primary contact between stakeholders and suppliers in the strategic sourcing process, including category analysis, supplier selection, continuity of supply and contract negotiation. Closely collaborate with business stakeholders to gain an understanding of current state, to include business requirements, supplier profiles & spend analysis. Maintain ongoing relationships with these key stakeholders to increase engagement and develop a robust project pipelineEnsures that the category strategy is aligned with the functionalbusiness objectives and work closely with Business Leaders, Quality, Operations, and R&D to ensure category strategies are aligned cross-functionallyLeads a team responsible for strategic sourcing activities and purchasing functions. Hire and develop talent to keep up with the rapid growth of the company.Develop supplier management strategies by which suppliers are evaluated, selected and managed in accordance with established guidelines and best practices (RFIRFP, Scorecards, performance metrics)Determine and recommend alternate supply strategies to create cost savings. Lead Make Vs Buy discussions using cost modeling and competitor assessmentConsiders financial planning, forecasting, P&L performance, inventory, cash flow, tariffs, and inflation to formulate strategyManages the contracting process and leads coordination with Legal to ensure relationships are appropriately documentedManages the supplier qualification, RFP, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, compliance, and ongoing supply base management processDrives supplier consolidation through engaging and supporting to qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend from the incumbent, non-preferred suppliersDrives adoption of global sourcing strategies across the enterprise and ensures ongoing cross-team collaboration.Manage inventory within the target levels and maintain dual sources of supply as needed. Focus on continuous improvement building supply chain excellence and best practices. Education, Experience & SkillsUniversity Degree in a technical field (BSME BSIE preferred) or equivalent. Master's degree preferredStrong negotiation skills, with relentless drive. 10-15 years' experience in SourcingCategory Management of direct materialsMust have significant experience sourcing electromechanical componentsAt least 5 years' experience leading teamMust have experience sourcing from Asian suppliersMust be willing and able to travel on a regular basis (30%) including AsiaCollaborative working styleGood relationship builder (internalexternal)Challenges underlying assumptions of stakeholder recommendations Able to balance both short and long-term performance needsSmart negotiator who likes fact-based discussions with suppliersStrong interpersonal and communication skills.Conflict resolution andor mediation skills.
