Nature of Work Working in the Office of Human Resources Management, under limited supervision of the Director of Payroll & Benefits, this position serves as a lead in the Departments of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services payroll unit. This position will be team leader and point of contact for projects related to tracking Leave of Absences, processing Workers Compensation TTD Benefits and over payments. This position: Prepares and processes changes and special payments affecting the payroll from pay period to pay period utilizing the statewide payroll system. Prepares agency reports to be used by auditors, managers and cabinet level personnel and will be a liaison for the payroll unit with all offices and other state agencies including the State Auditor's Office/OASIS. Reviews, approves, validates, and submits payroll and financial transactions such as cash receipts, one time payments, time and leave usage and various deductions. Tracks all payroll changes to ensure accuracy. Trains and provides expert guidance to payroll staff. Serves as a payroll processor for the Departments of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services. Will be assisting payroll staff in processing payroll including reviewing and approving timecards, entering payroll deductions, and other payroll functions. Minimum Qualifications Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Substitution: Candidates may substitute related experience for the required education at the rate of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester hours of education. Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional human resources, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting experience. Substitution: Graduate course work from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute at the rate of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester hours of education. Other Information: 1 year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional supervisory and/or management experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Note: A valid driver's license may be required.
