Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Operations for the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Director of Operations provides high-level organizational and analytical leadership to projects and initiatives in the Office of the EVPAA. On an intramural level this role will be an interface between EVPAA and senior leadership in the EVPAA unit (Academic Initiatives, Academic Planning, Administration, Assessment & Accreditation, Institutional Research, Global, Libraries, Research, etc.). Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provides strategic direction, operational expertise, and administrative oversight to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Office. Drives strategic initiative and promoting collaboration across EVPAA-reporting units. Analyzes complex information, assess potential risks and opportunities, and provide insightful recommendations. Collaborates closely with senior leaders to enhance efficiency, manage workflows, and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. Makes a final determination based on judgement and interpretation of policy, and in other cases, will make a recommendation to the EVPAA or other senior leaders. Works with the EVPAA on special projects and policies, and initiatives. Conducts research, analysis, and benchmarking to provide insights and recommendations on various strategic issues and opportunities. Leads or contributes to policy discussions, provide expertise on administrative matters, and recommend policy changes based on emerging needs or evolving circumstances. Primary resource and point of contact for written communication and presentations on behalf of the Office of the EVPAA. Gathers high level and confidential material for briefing the EVPAA and demonstrates a high level of initiative and judgment in completing one's work. Represents the interests and priorities of the executive vice president through effective communication, coordination, and planning. This position is required to be forward-thinking and results-oriented with the ability to anticipate emerging issues, implement innovative solutions, and align administrative functions. This role exercises discretion and independent judgment in providing advice to various stakeholders regarding policies and procedures. In some cases, they will make a final determination based on judgement and interpretation of policy, and in other cases, will make a recommendation to the EVPAA or other senior leaders. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree and five years of university administrative experience. Experience successfully functioning in comparable leadership roles at a research-intensive University. Experience working in a provost's or dean's office.
