Responsibilities Seeking a team-focused professional, with a passion for caring for GI oncology patients, to join our progressive outpatient clinics. The GI Oncology Navigator identifies patient needs, barriers to care and initiates appropriate referrals to multidisciplinary services from diagnosis through treatment. Collaborates with the appropriate teams to ensure that scheduled tests, diagnostic procedures, follow- up care, and appointments are coordinated within the GI oncology cancer clinical pathway. Provides education to patients and families regarding complex appointments and required testing. Assists in the development of clinical goals and objectives for the GI oncology navigator role in conjunction with the GI cancer service line. Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently with multidisciplinary teams is required to be successful in this position. BSN with 3- 5 years of oncology experience required. Oncology certification preferred. Qualifications Requires a Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program and an active New York State RN license in good standing. Level II Applicants will have a minimum of 6-12 months of RN experience. This position assumes the charge nurse role, actively participates in unit/service activities, supports co-workers, and assesses unit needs. Level III Applicants will have a minimum of 3 years of RN experience. This position utilizes expert skill and knowledge to deliver nursing care, directs others, and assumes the role as a care coordinator or preceptor.
