Job Description: Marine Engineer (based out of Benicia and Oakland- shore based)Position Title: Marine EngineerJob Type: Full-TimeCompany: Innovative marine environmental services company providing solutions to help reduce shipping emissions.Job Summary:The Marine Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical and electrical systems on board a barge located in Port Hueneme. This role ensures that all engineering activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:Maintenance and Repair:Perform routine maintenance and repairs on generators, pumps, and other mechanical and electrical systems.Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.Operation and Monitoring:Operate and monitor the performance of the auxiliary systems.Ensure all systems are functioning efficiently and respond promptly to any alarms or anomalies.Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.Safety and Compliance:Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.Ensure compliance with national and international maritime regulations and standards.Participate in safety drills and emergency response exercises.Team Collaboration:Work closely with other crew members to ensure smooth vessel operations.Provide guidance and training to junior engineering staff and deck crew on technical and safety municate effectively with the shore-based management team regarding maintenance needs and operational status.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of equipment performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.Prepare reports on equipment status, repairs, and inspections for management review.Ensure all documentation is in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Skills:Strong knowledge of marine systems, auxiliary machinery, and electrical systems.Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.Familiarity with maritime safety regulations and environmental standards.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and teamwork abilities.Working Conditions:Work is performed on board a barge located in the harbor. You will be able to come home every night.Must be physically fit and able to perform tasks that require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
