Position: Director of EngineeringLocation: Oakland, CA (Hybrid, 2-3 days a week in-office is a MUST)About the RoleWe are looking for an accomplished Director of Engineering to join our leadership team and help advance our position in the renewable energy sector. Our company is dedicated to the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from development and financing to construction and long-term operations. We specialize in large-scale photovoltaic (solar) and battery energy storage solutions, and this role is crucial for guiding our technical and engineering vision as we grow.Role OverviewThe Director of Engineering will lead and manage our engineering team, overseeing all project activities through Development and Pre-Construction. Reporting to the VP of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), the Director will be based in our Oakland, CA office. In this position, you'll be responsible for refining existing workflows and implementing new processes to ensure that project milestones are met with precision. You'll also provide high-level technical guidance on contract assessments, equipment evaluations, and quality control for construction, collaborating closely with our Pre-Construction and Construction teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and grow the Engineering team, promoting best practices and ongoing professional development.Manage daily operations, supporting project needs across Development and Construction phases.Define project scopes, objectives, and key deliverables.Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure seamless project integration and execution.Maintain quality and consistency across engineering designs, reports, processes, and analyses.Qualifications8+ years in utility-scale renewable energy or a related industry.Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field; an advanced degree is preferred.Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with ESRI ArcGIS software.Working knowledge of industry-standard tools such as PSSE, ETAP, PV Syst, SAM, LPile, and Flow2D.Skilled at managing multiple projects independently and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.Strong attention to detail, communication, and presentation abilities.Adaptable and goal-oriented, with proven problem-solving and team collaboration pensation & BenefitsSalary: $220,000 annually, plus a 20% performance-based bonus401(k) plan with company matchingComprehensive health, vision, and dental benefitsGenerous PTO and holiday packageFlexible hybrid work policy
