Title: Cobol Software Developer Level III (Automotive Finance)Location: Torrance, CA (Hybrid with primarily remote work with a few days every now and then onsite)Contract Duration: 12 months with strong possibility of an extension MUST HAVE: Commercial Lending experience. W2 OnlyLocal to Los Angeles Preferred.We are looking for a Cobol Software Developer to help support Application Development and Production Support for multiple large projects. The primary tasks for this Cobol Developer will include the following:Research and resolve production issues, as well as troubleshoot mainframe on-line and batch abends Evaluate the daily and monthly batch process to improve performance and shorten the critical path window Perform Impact Analysis across multiple platforms and applications Deliver complete documentation for estimates, design, and development Working with an IBM mainframe environment comprised of COBOL, CICS, MQ, DB2, and JCL Provide support for nightly batch production support Codes and performs unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirementsCodes, tests, and debugs new software or makes enhancements to existing softwareWrites programs according to specifications from higher level staff or business analystsDevelops technical documentationResolves, in a timely manner, problems that arise with existing production applications to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of application componentsCollaborates with technical staff to learn and understand software problemsGenerates a variety of complex and periodic reports andor data through database management, data administration and data extraction techniquesProvides general system users and management with system analysis and feedbackInfluences system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancementsMentors and coaches less experienced staffMaximizes the efficiency of the various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing and auditing new software programsAnalyzes and resolves computer related problems by coordinating with inhouse personnel to diagnose and fix operational difficulty, as well as consulting, advising and training on specialized features and functionsFollows established configurationchange control processesRequired Skills and Expertise: BABS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience.Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Cobol programmerMust have production and project support for mainframe applications. Must be strong in Cobol. Automotive Finance experience with focus on Dealer Financial Services, including Customer Service, Flooring, Wholesale Line of Credit, and Commercial LoansBusiness knowledge of financial servicesUnderstanding of financial services automotive lending, Customer Service, Payment Processing, Taxes, End of Term and Extension processes, Collections, Delinquency Tracking, Repossession, Charge Off, Recovery, Bankruptcy, and Accounting.Extensive commercial lendingconsumer lending experience Experience working with the following technologies: IBM Mainframe, COBOL, zOS DB2, JCL, and CICS Advanced capability in Software construction, testing, infrastructure, configuration, and operating standards Familiarity with test practices and deliverables for unit test Advanced corporate knowledge, and understands how a change would affect multiple applicationsAdvanced ability to perform the following:Make recommendationsdecisions in application and program design, standards, and program enhancementsUtilize system traces and debugging tools for problemissue resolutionAnalyze and model business functions, processes, and information flow within or between systemsProvide guidance and mentoring on programming practices and techniques to individuals and cross functional teamsWork with users at all levels to define system requirements, design, and system topologies to meet operational needs and system performance objectivesMust have the following non-technical skills:Interpersonal style that reflects our culture- consensus decision making, respect for the individualHigh level of IntegrityExhibit excellent oral and written communication skillsHigh level of skill in diplomacynegotiatingteamworkcollaboration
