Converting Operations includes reclose packaging production, pouching operations, and zipper application production.Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: (includes, but not limited to)Manufacturing ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain efficient workflow through the departmentEnsure adequate supply of materials for the departmentMaintain the accuracy and documentation of production reportingOversee and direct daily activities of Department Ensure adequate and effective employee trainingMaintain a clean and safe work environmentOversee department manning requirements including vacation planning and coverageTechnical/Quality ResponsibilitiesEnsure achievement of quality, production, productivity, and safety goals for departmentAssist with the Technical Department on customer or machine toolingPerform applicable quality control testing and enter data into the databaseCoordinate with the Technical Department to produce trial/product development materials and specificationsResponsible for overseeing and championing all food safety/SQF compliance for the facility; SOP's, pre-operational checklists, audits, and recalls (mock or actual)Project management, including, selection, installation, and startup of all major department equipment purchases Identify, recommend, and implement equipment, process, and procedural improvements Must comply with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP's) and any job or department specific SOP's.SOP's may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)Employee Health and SafetySQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminates in all packaging manufactured. SGP (Sustainable Green Printer) environmental regulatory procedures and SOP'sOther duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities:Overseeing and coordinating activities of shift personnel including Shift SupervisorsConduct employee evaluationsDirect staff personal developmentOversee disciplinary action, as required Ability to deal with issues and situations objectively and fairly based on Company policies and guidelines.Qualifications:Management experience in a flexible packaging operation, focused on converting operations (Pouch, Reclose, etc.)Basic mechanical skills.Strong problem-solving skillsAbility to determine P&L results for specific departments and operations from manufacturing statistics and communication skills.Good computer skills, working with Microsoft products and manufacturing ERP systems.Knowledge of web handling processes requiredExperience working with or leading manufacturing teamsExcellent PC skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are required.Excellent written and oral communication skills and solid presentation skills.Excellent organizational and time-management skillsAbility to define and solve problems dealing with many variables and limited standards and time.Self-starter with initiative to anticipate what needs to be doneManage projects and programs and be able to obtain buy in from all levels of the organization to implement programsSQF Certification a plusPhysical Demands: (lifting X lbs., working at heights or underground, standing for long periods, etc.)Frequent standing and sitting, as well as occasional crawling, stooping, kneeling, reaching with arms, & crouching will be required to perform the duties of this frequent lifting of 50 lbs. or less.May be required work at heights or in confined spaces for short periods of time during equipment inspections and Conditions: (travel, working hours, any unusual environmental conditions, protective wear required, frequent travel may be required for maintaining certifications, seminars, training sessions, vendor site visits, etc.Exposure to chemicals (inks, solvents), moving mechanical parts, extended noise, etc. may require the use of personal protective equipment, earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
