Operations Senior Finance Manager/Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Job Locations US-MD-Lexington Park ID Category Accounting/Finance Type Full Time Telecommute Yes Overview We are seeking an Operations Senior Finance Manager/FP&A to enhance contract operating efficiency, optimize budget execution, and maximize financial performance across the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with experience delivering actionable insights through financial modeling and analysis, budget management, forecasting, and the use of key metrics to drive business decisions, particularly in the context of government services contracts. They will have experience with Deltek Costpoint and IBM Cognos Analytics, with the ability to create dynamic dashboards and generate customized reports and data visualizations to support leadership and program management teams. They will collaborate with and liaison between Accounting & Finance, Operations, and various other departments and subsidiaries to ensure financial planning and analysis is cohesive and supports achieving company goals and objectives. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Support the COO and subsidiary program management teams in strategic decision-making by providing data-driven insights on contract performance, resource allocation, and budget execution Lead the development and refinement of financial models to support contract performance forecasts and budget efficiency Provide detailed variance analysis at the contract level between budgets, forecasts, and actual results, identifying trends and areas for improvement and calculations of end-of-year estimates Analyze existing government contracts to identify opportunities to increase contract execution efficiency and conduct scenario analyses to assess financial outcomes under different operational conditions Support Accounting & Finance in the identification and resolution of data discrepancies in Costpoint and other financial tracking systems Monitor, analyze, and interpret trends in financial data Lead initiatives in the use of data, data analytics, dashboards, and AI as the standard method for measuring and communicating financial performance and informing decisions and actions Manage and lead the development of contract backlog and indirect budget inputs to the company master budget prepared by the CFO Prepare and lead detailed monthly indirect budget reviews Prepare contract-level financial and utilization data and support contract Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and execution strategy sessions Perform scenario planning to assess how changes in cost structures (e.g., fluctuations in overhead or G&A rates) will impact the overall wrap rate and conduct sensitivity analyses to changes in key cost drivers Track and update monthly metrics and KPIs for quarterly executive meetings, Board of Directors meetings, and Management Review Boards Create presentations that clearly communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities using data visualizations like bar charts, line charts, KPIs, waterfall charts, etc. Support BD/Proposals in development of competitive and profitable pricing strategies and price-to-win Teach and mentor junior financial analysts in Accounting & Finance department Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (substitution will be considered with demonstrated FP&A experience in a similar role) Experience: Minimum of 5 years in FP&A or related roles within government services contracting or related services environments The ideal candidate will posess the following skills Use of Deltek Costpoint and IBM Cognos Analytics, including creating dynamic dashboards, customized reports, and data visualizations Proficiency in other financial modeling and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI) Experience managing budgets for large-scale projects or government contracts Excellent communication skills; ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership; proven ability to influence decision-making with data-driven insights Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment High attention to detail combined with a strategic view of organizational goals This position may be performed on site, hybrid, or remotely, with occasional travel to AVIAN HQ required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Salary range: $145,000-$165,000 (The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.)
