CONTROLLER NYC PRIVATE CREDIT INVESTMENT FIRM J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Controller - Investments at a prominent NYC Private Credit- Investment Manager. An exciting opportunity reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer & SVP of Finance of this fast-growing and dynamic investment organization that is experiencing exceptional growth! The candidate will have daily exposure to senior / investment management. The ability to multi-task while maintaining an attention to detail is essential to success in this role, as well as the ability to adapt and be agile to a constantly changing environment. The candidate must be able to work independently and in group settings and be able to effectively communicate with senior/investment management across the firm. This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses. To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities: Manage a team of approximately 10 people in finance and operations based in the United States and the Philippines (working US hours). Internal oversight of two third fund administrators and legacy Funds prepared in house - responsible for overseeing and reviewing fund accounting deliverables including valuations and financial statements associated with fund reporting close periods Review of the quarterly Net Asset Value calculations for two third party administrators and legacy Funds prepared in-house. Review of quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements prepared by a third party. Preparation of financials for special purpose vehicles with multi-currency accounting. Review portfolio reconciliations for accuracy of asset level P&L attribution. Preparation of quarterly and ad hoc return calculations and reporting metrics. Responsible for calculation of quarterly tax distributions for the Funds and select upper tier entities. Work with KPMG and tax counsel in all aspects of tax compliance and structuring. Liaise with the in-house operations team to resolve all position, P&L and operational issues Work with deal and asset management teams on ad-hoc requests. Participate in technology build outs and refinements. The ideal candidate would have a background including: The successful candidate will have at least 10-15+ years of relevant financial experience and possess the following: Experience with private credit investments Experience working with external service providers, particularly fund administrators Experience in public / private fund accounting, closing, and reporting processes - US GAAP and Investment Company accounting Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels, with both internal and external parties. Maturity, presence, sound judgment, and ability to form and express opinions effectively to cross-divisional teams including senior management. Education: Strong academic record and a bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting, Finance or related field - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred An individual who loves solving deep and complex financial problems and wants to have an outsized impact with the products and solutions they deliver. SALARY RANGE: The salary range is $175,000 - $225,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation.
