Position Type: Nursing/School Nurse Date Posted: 11/6/2024 Location: District-Wide Date Available: as needed Closing Date: Until Filled The Steamboat Springs School District is seeking qualified Nurses to provide subsitutute (temporary /on call) coverage for the School nurses on an as needed basis Pay: $41.22 per/hour This is a temporary on-call position and not eligible for benefits Qualified candidates must have thier RN or BSN and active nursing licnese Below is a summary of the overall position and duties of the nurse and health office and duties may vary based on school and coverage needed. SUMMARY: This position serves as the primary health consultant and provide direct care necessary to support student health needs in the school setting, within the parameters of the Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) licensure. Identify health needs of students through appraisal, health histories, screening programs and observations, conferences with parents, health providers and school staff. Must be able to provide care to students, including medically fragile students independently; follow doctor's orders and health care plans; collaborate with other district RNs, school staff, physicians, and parents to provide high quality care for students with health and medical needs. Works with CDPHE for health concerns and protocols. The RN will be able to provide direct care to students which may include, but not be limited to gastric tube feedings and other complex medical care. The RN may be asked to do other duties as assign PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide training, delegation according to the Nurse Practice Act, and supervision of staff in providing healthcare including, but not limited to standard precautions, infectious disease guidelines, medication administration, diabetes care, Covid school management and seizure disorders. Provide direct patient care including monitoring student health, administering medications, and providing medically necessary procedures. Provide medical expertise in schools; collaborate with healthcare providers, parents and school personnel to identify, develop and implement applicable Plans that mitigate health-related obstacles to learning. Review student health questionnaires and updates; ensure student health records are in compliance with federal, state and district guidelines; coordinate vision and hearing screenings. Responsible for ensuring state reports are timely and accurate. Maintain required licensures/certifications; attend all required meetings, trainings, and professional development as directed by the district supervisor. Keep abreast of best practices and develop and maintain the necessary skills. Assists in the development and enforcement of policy to provide a safe school environment and participates as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Assists Principals with hiring of health technicians paraprofessionals as appropriate. Administer emergency first aid, CPR and AED to students and staff in accordance with established protocols. General management of health budget and distribution of supplies. Provides training on an as-needed basis for district staff Assists teachers and parents with information regarding specific health problems. Provides guidance to the district administration on health-related policy and regulations. Ensures the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality and security of all student health information according to FERPA. Perform other job related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Nursing,or current Colorado RN Nurse License Experience in nursing or school nursing preferred. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff. Excellent administrative, organizational and clerical skills Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft and Google. High attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry. Reasoning Ability : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process. Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology. Other Skills And Abilities : Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear.
