Position Title: Custodian, Night Crew Leader (3p-11a) Job Classification: Class 7 Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License Basic mechanical aptitude Potential for supervisory skills Strong interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work as part of a team Any additional or alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of School Directors. Reports To and Evaluated By: The Night Crew Leader reports to and is evaluated by the Building Supervisor. Principal Functions: The Night Crew Leader is responsible for housekeeping, building security, directing and assists in evaluating the custodial staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities*: Responsible for the housekeeping of the building Responsible for directing the custodial staff Trains newly-employed custodians, explains and demonstrates cleaning techniques, goes over job assignments and makes any other assignments that might be needed on a daily basis Assists in assignments due to absences and confirms that these areas are covered by other custodians Insures that building systems are set for an unoccupied condition and secured at the appropriate time Directs custodians in the handling of building rentals and other events for weekly night activities Cleans snow from all outside door areas at times of inclement weather and handles emergencies that arise in a responsible fashion Temporarily performs certain duties of the Building Supervisor when he/she is absent Performs such other duties, consistent with the position, as may be assigned by the Board of School Directors. *This list is intended to be illustrative rather than complete, and serves to show major duties and responsibilities and differentiates the position from others in the district. Physical Necessities and Work Environment: Position requires sitting, standing, walking or moving throughout the building, often for extended periods of the workday. Must be able to hear (40 decibel loss maximum), verbally communicate, and have vision requirements of near acuity of 20 inches or less and far acuity of 20 feet or more with depth perception, accommodation and field vision. Performs a variety of duties, able to make judgments and work under high level of stress. Lifts/carries papers and/or other supplies weighing no more than 45 pounds. Climbs stairs and ladders in and or around the building. May occasionally bend to reach to secure records/files from desk, shelves and filing cabinets. Requires use of either hand for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and push/pull functions. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
