What You'll Do The WIC Epidemiologist will work to initiate, design, and conduct epidemiologic projects in maternal and child health. These projects will have a specific focus on the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Additional job duties may include: Oversee and conduct analysis of individual and group level data (e.g., food issuance and redemption, breastfeeding, eligibility) using SQL code to query databases and statistical analysis software (e.g. SAS,R). Conduct and Monitor analysis of data to predict trends and provide analyzed data for funding and staffing recommendations Interpret study findings in the context of existing policies, regulations, and laws as well as environmental factors Play a leading role in providing support to the manager in completing state and federal data reporting/forms. Conduct complex statistical analyses of multi-agency and multi-program services linked datasets. Provide statistical information and reports as needed for funding sources, advisory councils, local providers of services, Ohio Department of Health (ODH) programs, and state and federal agencies. Prepare and deliver presentations at local, state and federal meetings. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Qualifications Position Qualifications Completion of graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in use of statistical computer software packages; 6 mos. exp. as epidemiology investigator with local or federal health agency; must be able to provide own transportation OR 6 mos. exp. as Epidemiology Investigator 2, 65762; must be able to provide own transportation. OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria: Graduate or advanced degree in public health or preventive medicine Courses in epidemiology Courses in statistics Experience designing and conducting epidemiologic data analysis to investigate health issues Experience collecting, interpreting, summarizing, and disseminating statistical analysis of health-related data Experience in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R) Experience using SQL query language Experience with survey development/data analysis Experience with program design and evaluation Experience working with programs that address Maternal and Child Health Experience working with WIC programs Job Skills: Public Health Technical Skills: Data Analytics, Public Health Professional Skills: Analyzation, Interpreting Data, Reasoning Official educational transcripts are required for all post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework or degrees claimed on the application.
