Where You'll Work: The Software Engineering Intern will join a dynamic Boston based team developing technological solutions to solve some of healthcare's most challenging problems in the arena of insurance prior authorization - the crux of how healthcare payments function and arguably the biggest burden facing physicians. Working with other interns, more senior engineers, product managers, clinicians, and stakeholders, the software engineering intern will contribute to the development of enterprise software utilizing and learning software languages and technologies such as Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, CI/CD, Azure, and Kafka within an Agile development framework. Working within the insurance company space with access to hospital clients, the intern will be exposed to and guided in several opportunities, including automation work (e.g., software deployment and metric generation), infrastructure development, and specific product level features. Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; desired degrees include, but are not limited to Computer Science, Mathematics, and Engineering or related other Science programs. Alternatively, candidate has graduated from software bootcamp, or has industry experience. Additional Information: Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks summer 2025, beginning May 19, 2025. Location: This role is full-time work at home. Compensation: For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate between $23.50 and $27.00 per hour, depending on relevant factors including major and year of study. Work Authorization: One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with the Cigna group post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the U.S. and who would not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
